The Wright Night (2025–Reoccuring)
Scratch Night / New Writing & Performance / Theatre Development

The Wright Night is a scratch night event created to platform new theatrical writing and performance from Manchester-based writers and actors. Hosted at The King’s Arms in Salford, the event provides a supportive space for artists to test early-stage work in front of a live audience, encouraging experimentation, feedback, and creative development.

The inaugural event featured six 20-minute showings of new plays and extracts, showcasing a range of voices, styles, and themes. The night sold out and brought together over 30 creatives through performance alone, highlighting both the demand for opportunities to present new work and the strength of the local theatre community. By centring emerging artists and works-in-progress, The Wright Night actively supports the growth of new writing in the region.

The event was co-produced alongside Tom Bateman and Kieran Scott, co-founders of Pink Zip Theatre. Working collaboratively, we developed the concept, curated the programme, and delivered the event to ensure a sustainable platform for new work could take root. As co-producer, my role included event development, venue liaison and live event delivery. The Wright Night is set to continue as a recurring event throughout 2026, demonstrating a commitment to long-term artist development and ongoing opportunities for Manchester-based theatre makers.
